Callejón de Hamel, Central Havana.

In 1990, self-taught artist Salvador Gonzales Escalona began an experiment in public art that has grown to cover the entirety of Callejón de Hamel. His self-described Afro-Cuban style combines surrealism, cubism and abstract art with strong Santeria influences. It is huge, gaudy, breathtakingly beautiful and over-run by tourists.
